This project began when the client requested an evaluation of and design assistance for a water treatment system at a proposed battery production facility. Using data from a similar facility and working closely with the client, PCD was able to design a treatment system for the new facility. Unfortunately, shortly into the design process the discharge parameters were tightened. This change required a re-evaluation of available technologies and the modification to a zero discharge design. PCD modified the design to utilize physical-chemical treatment in the form of ferrihydride followed by reverse osmosis to produce a clean effluent capable of being reused in the process. After client and regulatory approval of the design, PCD served as a purchasing agent during equipment acquisition, provided construction and installation oversight, commissioned the equipment, and provided operator training and startup assistance.
